Read the summary and answer the following Discussion questions Chapter 2, in your notebook.
Summary Ch.2
The train reaches the Polish border, stops, and the Nebrots are ordered off. They are examined by a phisician, and their bodies, clothes and belongings are fumigated. When the rucksack is returned to Rifka, the family candlesticks are gone. The family boards the train once again, and they enter Poland. Rifka notes tat Poland doesn't look any different from Berdichev, and she wonders if it will be the same in America.
Discussion Questions Chapter 2
1. What happens when the train reaches the Polish border? Why do you think this examination must take place? what is your opinion of this requirement?
2. What does Rifka think of as she and her mother wait outside the boxcar? Do you think there might be a situation in which one person would be "justified" in stealing from another? Explain.
3. How does Rifka feel when the Polish doctor looks at her? How do you think the doctor looked at Rifka? Do you think non-verbal communication is easy or difficult on interpret?
4. What does Rifka discover when the rucksack is returned to her? How does Mrs. Nebrot react to this? are you surprised that Mrs. Nebrot is not upset? What do you think Mrs. Nebrot means by her comment?
5. What is Rifka's impression of Poland as the train heads toward Warsaw? What would be your explanation of this to Rifka?

Choose a topic that you are interesting in exploring some more
Once you click on the topic of your choice you will have an explanation of this topic and three more links: STORY, EXPLORE AND CHALLENGE. You will have to navigate through the three links. Note that each page guides you through more links, please make sure you complete the navigation of the page.
After you are done navigating through each link you are required to write a 5 sentence paragraph that explins the main idea of what is explained in each link using your own words. Please include your opinion of what you learned, do you agree with the Egyptian practices? This will give you a total of 3 paragrpahs of 5 sentences eac. Remember to inlcude the title for each paragraph. If you forgot your notebook do it in a loose leaf sheet of paper.
I will be checking you work Friday Jan. 22nd. You will also share your learnings with your classmates.
